Saint Genevieve
Saint Genevieve was born around 420 in Nanterre, into a Gallo-Roman family. At a very young age, she chose to dedicate her life to faith after meeting Bishop Saint Germanus of Auxerre, who noticed her piety. Known for her great spirituality and religious influence, she became one of the most important Christian figures in Gaul.
The Montagne Sainte-Geneviève is named after Saint Genevieve, who protected Paris during Attila's invasion by the Huns in the 5th century by urging the inhabitants to maintain faith and not flee the city. After her death, a large abbey was built in her honor on this hill, which then took the name Montagne Sainte-Geneviève and became one of Paris's intellectual centers.
